Your Responsibilities
- Writing a dissertation in the field of literary and/or cultural studies with a focus on literary or non-literary texts and their cultural entanglements. Possible areas of research include, but are not limited to: questions of form and function, synchronic and diachronic aspects of literary and/or non-literary texts, issues related to forms and practices of social interaction with texts, and textual interventions and engagements with the concepts of “text” and “context,” the study of plurimedial formations, as well as questions concerning theory and methodology development and models of interdisciplinary approaches. An interest in digital media and/or Digital Humanities is desirable
- Collaboration on the projects of the Centre for Cultural Studies and participation in the international events of the European PhDnet and the doctoral program “Culture-Text-Action”
- Participation in organizational and administrative duties
Pursuing a doctoral degree (“Cotutelle”) within the joint-degree framework consisting of universities participating in the European PhDnet “Literary and Cultural Studies”
Your Profile
- A completed degree (Bachelor, Magister, or Master’s) in literary studies and/or cultural studies with distinction
- High proficiency in German and in English
- Willingness to be academically mobile
- High personal motivation for academic work
- Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork abilities
The following documents are required for a complete application:
- Letter of motivation and academic CV
- A dissertation proposal of approximately five pages as well as an extensive bibliography
- Relevant academic certificates
- Two letters of recommendation by professors
- Proof of the language skills, required in the curriculum, if the doctoral program at the Faculty of Humanities is not completed in the first language (please note that an admission is required).
We offer an annual gross salary of € 52,007.20 for a fulltime position.
