The North American Studies Program at the University of Bonn is proud to welcome the acclaimed Native American writer and academic Diane Glancy (Cherokee) for a reading from her diverse body of work. With over 60 books of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, as well as plays and screenplays, Glancy ranks among the key figures of Native American Literature. Her writing has enjoyed particular praise for crossing and combining different genres and for its creative rewriting of Native American history. She will read from one of her most recent publications, A Line of Driftwood: The Ada Blackjack Story (2021), which combines prose and poetry to breathe new life into the diaries of and historical record on Ada Blackjack – an Inupiat woman who joined an Arctic expedition in 1921 and returned two years later as the sole survivor.
