The English Department at the University of Koblenz-Landau (Campus Landau), Germany, is seeking to fill

a part-time PhD-position/Research and Teaching Assistant (50%)

from 01.04.2018 until 31.03.2022. The fixed-term employment contract is on the basis of the German Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG) and is part-time (50%). The payment is according to the German tariffs for university employees (13 TV-L).

Tasks include:
Contributing to research in the area of literary studies (PhD-project); independent teaching: one course per semester (2 hours every week during term) in English literature and/or American literature; involvement in research projects at the English Dept. and assisting in administrative work.

Essential qualifications:
Master’s or equivalent degree in English Studies/American Studies or Comparative Literature; excellent English language skills; knowledge of the German language is of advantage but not a prerequisite for the job position; a Phd-project in the area of literary studies (British, Irish, US-American or Anglophone literature), preferably on a topic that allows connections to the research profile of Prof. Dr. Stella Butter (see: www.uni-koblenz-landau.de/de/landau/fb6/philologien/anglistik/Page/abteilung/professor/stella-butter/butterforschung).
